EQUINE LAWYER SPEARHEADS NATIONAL EQUINE PROFESSIONAL LECTURE SERIES AT EQ WEST IN NOVEMBER

    Equine law practitioner and author Julie Fershtman has been selected to co-organize and speak at "Equitana U," the two-day lecture series for equine
professionals at the inaugural EQWest convention in Del, Mar, California.

    EQWest takes place from November 19 through 21, 1999, at the Del Mar, California, Fairgrounds, which is near San Diego.  It is organized by Miller
Freeman, the same company that arranges the popular Equitana USA Convention.

    "Equitana U" is a comprehensive series of seminars geared to the unique interests of equine professionals, breeders, farm managers, trainers, instructors, and others employed in the horse industry.  Topics to be covered at the EQWest "Equitana U" will include marketing, insurance, contracts, liability, tax, computer automation and the internet, business and employment issues, and others.   Fershtman co-organized the first "Equitana U" as part of the 1998 Equitana USA convention.  Since its inception, "Equitana U" has received a tremendous response, reflecting the industry's need for this type of program.

    Fershtman is the author of the book Equine Law & Horse Sense.   Her second equine law book is scheduled for publication in Fall 1999.  At EQWest, she
will speak on ingredients of effective equine industry contracts as well as liability.   Other lectures and panel discussions are planned with national equine industry leaders.
